Still here

I've finished this except for the sewing up. I just hate sewing up. We've had a lot of stress recently in our lives and I think it has all settled down now. The triple screen for the baby came back flagged thanks to my advanced maternal age. That was good for a great deal of worry. Fortunately the targeted ultrasound was normal and there is a 99.5% chance that the baby is fine. That certainly made me feel better. There is no pink in my future. It's going to be another little guy to go with my other three. My daughter and I will be horribly outnumbered. My current little guy saw the neurologist and the ENT guy who put his tubes in . He is doing very well. Although the Bells Palsy is still there, there has been some slight improvement around his mouth. His eyelid continues to droop the same amount. The ENT doctor feels that over the next 2 years things will improve. Hopefully, we can get back to a low stress life. Posted by Picasa

The egg hunts were a success

I held egg hunts for the men and the women at a family gathering. For the men, I had a combination of scratch off lottery tickets and chocolate. (If anyone figures out a way to get beer in an egg by next year, please let me know.) For the women, I had 12 i-cord scarves made out of fancy yarn with fringe, chocolate, and yankee candles. I made almost all the scarves in a week. One cousin found six of the scarves,(I found two tiny eggs with chocolate in them, I think pregnant women should get a handicap) she held up two scarves that were doubles and told another cousin who didn't get any she could pick one. That cousin snatched both and said she wanted both of them. I guess the egg hunts were a success. Now, I have to knit more scarves for those who ended up scarfless and were sad. This means a trip to the yarn shop.

Ballet Slippers

I made these using Cascade Fixation in the hopes that they would stay on. Someone in my knit group was crocheting these and I knew I had to try them. I found the book at Michaels. Posted by Picasa

Lorna's Laces Baby Sweater

This washed up lovely. I put it in the drying cabinet instead of in the dryer. It turned out very soft. I was not pleased with the Debbie Bliss pattern. Why in the world do you need 6 buttons for a baby who is 3 mos old? I went out and bought an Elizabeth Zimmerman book called Knitters Almanac. I solemnly swear that I will never spend an entire day seaming up a baby sweater again. I have it on good authority that the bunny is bringing me "The Opinionated Knitter". Posted by Picasa

More socks/booties

I adapted the lettuce edge to a pair of baby socks. I basically winged the socks using standard sock knowledge. It's Lorna's Laces across the top and Ambrosia from Knitpicks for the rest of the sock. Posted by Picasa

Lettuce-edge Baby Booties

This pattern is from Knit Babies Heads and Toes!. I really like the top edging, but that is pretty much it. I made them out of Ambrosia from Knitpicks on size 5 needles. The three needle bind off across the bottom puts a point on the bottom at the front and back and the seaming pained me. Posted by Picasa
