I've finished 2 inches of heel on "the brave little sock".  

I've finished another inch on my first pair of toe-up socks. 

This is last night's spinning.  

A close-up of "the brave little sock". My family has nicknamed the sock after its perilous trip to the Elk and Bison Prairie. If this sock could talk it would have some tales to tell about taking a trip with 7 people in a mini-van. There was a car sick incident 40 minutes down the highway. My mother was very impressed with how my husband and I handled it. She's reported to friends and family that we are like a swat team swinging into action. It's possible that we've had enough practice that we know our roles when there is an "incident".

This is a sock I finished on vacation. Some day it will have a mate.  

This is my first attempt at a toe-up sock. I'm knitting it on size 0's. 

My latest spinning attempt. It's a teeny tiny ball of yarn.  

This is Miss Patty's in Grand Rivers, Kentucky. I love to go there. It was a bit cold to work on the sock. It stayed in it's Lantern Moon bag. We purchased fudge, played at the playground and saw the animals. The miniature golf course and the coffee shop were closed. The sock and I were very disappointed about the lack of capuccino. Next year, I'm going earlier in the season.

The sock and my husband are very brave. 

I am not brave, I am in the car with the rest of the family. 

This is one brave sock! 

I've knit more than a third of the front of the sweater. Watching the intarsia video on line yesterday made a huge difference. I still have some "issues" but I think it's pretty good for a first intarsia effort.

A bit of frogging...

I frogged the dragon back to before he started. Then I watched the intarsia video at knittinghelp.com. It made an incredible difference. I'm much happier with the fabric now. I still have a slight deficit over yesterday's progress, but I think it was worth it. Hopefully the recipient of the sweater won't notice that the dragon shrunk.

Close-up of the dragon's tail. The stitches are a little bit wonky. I'm debating ripping and starting over. I'm going to back in and duplicate stitch highlights and shading after the sweater is finished. I was thinking the best time to that would be after blocking it. Does anyone have any pointer or input here? 

This is the graph of the "Blue Dragon" for the dragon sweater. My husband designed it for me. It's complete with the Chinese character for dragon. He still needs to do the shading for the little guy. I'm very pleased with the shape. I did manage to cast on the ribbing for the front and have finished one row.  

The back of the dragon sweater is finished! I've knit until my arm, shoulder and neck hurt.

Sock Yarn for mom. 

I now have finished two sleeves and have a little less than 5" to knit on the back. I have knit until my shoulder hurts and it's time to take a break. Hopefully, tomorrow I can finish the back, chart the dragon and cast on the ribbing. 

Sleeve number two of the dragon sweater is more than half way finished. I also couldn't resist casting on the yarn bee scarf. I'm making the dropped stitch sc**f from the Teen Knitting Club book. We will not be using that word (sc**f) because it causes both Mel and I anxiety. From now on those projects will be the projects that shalt not be named. We need a catchy slogan or cool initials for those holiday stress inducing, guilt ridden projects.

I finished the first sleeve. I did much of it late last night. I only had about 2" to do today. I went to Hobby Lobby with my 40% off coupon and bought the Jewel Song yarn in the color sea pearls. I also bought some Pitter Patter. My knit picks order came. I bought two ball of wool of the andes, one hollyberry and one grass. I wanted to see how close they were to good Christmas colors. I also bought two more knitpicks color cards. I picked up Andean Treasure/Sierra and Decadence. Someone was knitting a sweater out of Decadence at knit night and it was the softest stuff I had ever felt. Even softer than Andean Treasure. I already own the color cards to Palette, Wool of the Andes and Merino Style. I can now make informed yarn purchases. Tomorrow is another day and the start of another sleeve.  

The Dragon Sweater goes on....

I've got about 9" of sleeve out of 14" on the dragon sweater. It's not to the point yet where I've figured out how many stitches left in the sleeve and how many stitches I knit per hour. That's probably going to be tomorrow or Thursday. By next week I will have figured out how many minutes left to knit every inch of the sweater.

It's been a busy day. It started out with the septic people at 7:30 am so that I could enjoy the use of large amounts of water again for things such as bathing, laundry etc. There's nothing like the sound of the swish of the washing machine after you haven't been able to use it for days. All for the bargain low price of $149.17. In a few days I will be sick of the swish swish sound of the washing machine and still have mountains of laundry.

My mom asked me on Monday, why the baby was throwing up on Sunday. I told her it could have been from shots but I was pretty sure it was because I couldn't do laundry. He didn't have a temp and was perfectly fine on Monday. That's pretty much how parenting works. It's a constant like in mathematics. Children always pick the most inconvenient time for things like throwing up.

On a different note, I was reading the Yarn Harlot's new book and I got to the part about knitting for Christmas. I practically developed hives. I have all kinds of scarves to knit and I'm still working on the dragon sweater. Heck, I've barely started the dragon sweater. I hate knitting scarves and my family LOVES knit scarves. They go to craft shows and see them with huge scary price tags on them and then they wait for Christmas. Then their cousin and aunt show up with hand knit and crochet scarves in gift bags with adorable tags (made by mom) and I'm sure they feel cherished. If they don't please don't tell me, because I HATE KNITTING SCARVES. I've tried to get them to like felted bags and it just hasn't worked. I wonder if I could get away with cell phone cozies?
